What to bring to class

Wilton Cake Decorating Course 2 


For every class, bring these items:
·    Plastic bags for easy clean-up
·    Apron, bath sized towel, damp cloth or disposable Handi-Wipes
·    Toothpicks for mixing colors, scissors, tape, skid-proof shelf liner, pen or pencil
·    Extra mixing bowls, spoons, small rubber spatula and practice board
·    2 empty cups or bowls grease free, waxed paper
·    Floral clay or tape is optional and small container for water
·    Lesson Plan and contents of Course Kit – it’s always smart to look ahead at the next lesson and know how you want to decorate your cake.  This will help you know what to bring, what colors to make, etc.

Lesson 1:
·    Tips 3, 5, 21, 16, 81 and 104
·    1 recipe class buttercream doesn’t matter about the color (to practice)


Lesson 2:
·    Tips 1, 2 101, 103 & 59
·    1 recipe royal icing bring in containers in the following colors: ½ c yellow, 1 c violet, ½ c deep green, 1 c pink
·    1 recipe color flow colored: ¾ c blue 1 c white (you may use royal icing bring in separate containers)
·    DO NOT FILL BAGS AT HOME! and bring cornstarch
·    Flower former set
·    Cake sparkles
·    carrier for flowers (box, pan, cupcake carrier)
·    Cake board with your pattern taped and covered with waxed paper



Lesson 3:
·    1 recipe royal icing bring in containers in the following colors: 1 c stiff yellow, 1 c pink, 1 c white, 2 c yellow and 1 c  violet.
·    DO NOT FILL BAGS AT HOME!
·    Tips 1, 3, 5 12, 14, 104, 97
·    Flower former set
·    Cake sparkles
·    cornstarch
·    carrier for flowers (box, pan, cupcake carrier)

Lesson 4:
·    One oval 2 layer cake on a cake board or serving plate.
·    Bake, cool, level, fill and ice your cake AT HOME.
·    Double recipe of Class Buttercream Icing.  Use one recipe of thin icing to ice your cake and bring the rest in airtight      containers, divided as follows:
o    3 1/2 c. medium consistency, in white for basketweave and rope boarders
o    1/2 c. medium consistency colored green for leaves and message
·    Tips 47, 21, 12, 67
·    Color flow pieces from lesson 2 and all flowers made from the previous classes plus any flowers you made at home.

What will I learn?

This fun class picks up where where Course 1 leaves off.  You will learn to make even more beautiful decorations, including the rosette, rope border and basket weaving.  See how to correctly make and use royal icing, and the color "flow" technique.  We'll make flowers with royal icing, including Pansies, Mums, Daffodils, Daisies, Victorian Rose, Violets and Apple Blossoms.
